While oregano oil does show strong antimicrobial activity in laboratory tests, direct comparisons with lemon juice or garlic extracts are complicated by differences in testing methods, microbial strains used, and concentrations applied.

Lemon contains citric acid and vitamin C, which can inhibit bacterial growth by lowering pH and acting as antioxidants, but this effect is generally milder and more limited in scope compared to oregano oil. Garlic contains allicin, a sulfur-containing compound with documented antimicrobial effects, but its potency varies widely depending on preparation and freshness.
